Stoke Space Secures $260M to Propel Reusable Rocket Innovation

Stoke Space, a Y Combinator alum aiming to transform space exploration, has raised a remarkable $260 million in its Series C funding round. This brings the company’s total funding to $480 million, following $100 million raised in October 2023 and $75 million in December 2021.

Founded in 2019 by Blue Origin veterans Andy Lapsa and Tom Feldman, who also gained early experience at SpaceX, Stoke Space is laser-focused on achieving a groundbreaking feat in aerospace: building the first fully reusable rocket. Unlike current systems, which typically discard the second stage of the rocket, Stoke aims to make both the booster and the second stage reusable, setting a new standard for cost-efficiency and sustainability in space missions.

The latest funding round will fuel the development of Stoke’s cutting-edge infrastructure at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, a historic site for space exploration. Last month, the company reached a significant milestone by successfully testing its first-stage rocket engine, demonstrating its rapid progress toward realizing its ambitious goals.

This funding round attracted major investors, including Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Glade Brook Capital Partners, Industrious Ventures, Point72 Ventures, Seven Seven Six, and Y Combinator, among others. Their support underscores growing confidence in Stoke’s innovative approach to reusable rocket technology.

As the space industry shifts toward sustainable solutions, Stoke Space is positioning itself as a leader in reducing launch costs and making space access more feasible for a broader range of missions.
