Volta, a startup headquartered in Milan and Paris, has raised €6 million ($6.3 million) in the largest pre-seed round for an Italian startup. The funding, led by Emblem, positions Volta as a new player in the vertical SaaS space, aiming to modernize B2B sales and distribution processes. Other investors include Robin Capital, Founders Future, Sequoia, a16z through their scout programs, and family offices like the Berlusconi and Agnelli families.

Volta is building a platform akin to Shopify, but focused exclusively on B2B transactions. The platform addresses a critical gap in the market: many midsize wholesale and distribution companies in Europe still rely on manual processes and paper catalogs. These outdated methods hinder efficiency and limit scalability.

Volta’s platform allows companies to digitize their catalogs, create tailored pricing lists, and share them with potential clients. Users can track negotiations, update orders, and manage customer relationships directly within the interface. By integrating seamlessly with existing ERP systems, Volta ensures real-time synchronization of inventory and pricing data.
